  1. SHORT TERM GOAL – INTERNET RADIO STATION – Achieved October 9, 2000

The short term goal of Holy Family Communications was to establish an Internet based radio station to broadcast programs put out by today’s top Catholic evangelists.

This goal was achieved on October 9, 2000, when we launched our first Internet broadcast. We continue to improve this broadcast by extending the number of broadcast hours, developing local programming, and altering program schedules to meet the needs of the Church in the Washington area.

  1. MEDIUM TERM GOAL – PURCHASE AIRTIME ON LOCAL STATIONS – Achieved April 2, 2001

The medium term goal of Holy Family Communications was to purchase airtime on a local radio station to run a top quality programs on the Catholic Faith.

This goal was achieved on April 2, 2001, when we began broadcasting “Catholic Answers” on WUST, AM 1120, four days a week. The 2001 season continued through September, when the shorter hours of winter precluded our broadcasting (WUST is only allowed to broadcast from dawn to dusk)

For the 2002 season, we dramatically increased the size of our broadcast. On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, we purchased the 6:00-8:00 PM time slot (6:00-8:30 PM in June & July) and began airing “Catholic Answers” LIVE, along with some excellent locally produced shows like “Healthy Minds, Healthy Souls,” “Our Journey To God,” “ConQuest Radio,” “Family Life Now,” and “The Way of Beauty.” We received many positive comments from people throughout the area about these programs, confirming the need for a full-time Catholic radio station in the Washington area.

We ceased purchasing airtime at the end of the 2002 season in order to focus all of our resources on our ultimate goal: purchasing a radio station.

  1. LONG TERM GOAL – PURCHASE A RADIO STATION

Starting in 2003, achieving this goal has become the top priority of Holy Family Communications. The Washington metropolitan area is the nation’s eighth largest media market. As such, the cost of purchasing a radio station here is extremely expensive, ranging from $1 million for a small AM station to $50 million or more for a large FM station.

Obviously, it will take a great deal of support from the local community to make this goal a reality, but we are confident that with perseverance, a great product (the Truth of the Catholic Faith), and the grace of God, we will succeed in achieving this, our ultimate goal. Please keep us in your prayers and consider supporting us with a financial contribution.
